History
Family Crisis Centers of NW Iowa, formerly the Domestic Violence Aid Center, was established by a group of volunteers in 1982. DVAC was developed after some concerned citizens began to recognize the need for services to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Northwest Iowa. During its beginning stages, the agency was operated from donated office space in Sioux Center. Through the years, the agency has developed into a program serving victims and survivors in Sioux, Lyon, OBrien and Osceola counties.

In 1998, the name of the agency was changed to Family Crisis Centers of NW Iowa. FCCs main office remains in Sioux Center, with outreach offices located in Rock Rapids, Primghar, and Sibley. After outgrowing current office and shelter accommodations, a new office/shelter complex was constructed during the Spring of 2001. Currently, the agencys nine employees and approximately seventy volunteers continue to provide 24-hour service to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the four county area.
