Debt Retirement
You are invited to support the Family Crisis Centers of Northwest Iowa, Inc., with your financial gifts which will further our efforts to assist abuse victims for years to come. All contributions will be utilized in accordance with the donor's specification. In June, 2001, our agency completed a major building project which resulted in the opening of N.W. Iowa's first permanent, state-of-the-art emergency shelter/office complex. As a major factor of sound fiscal management, it is the desire of F.C.C.'s board of directors to pay off the debt which remains on this project. While the majority of the $350,000 construction costs were met by a Community Development Block Grant and local donations and fund raisers, a $150,000 USDA loan debt remains. To keep operating costs as low as possible, it is imperative to reduce and retire all debt related to this building project as soon as possible.
Questions and Answers about Debt Retirement
1. How is a gift to the Shelter Debt Retirement Fund different from other gifts?
Gifts to this fund will be used exclusively to retire the $150,000 debt related to the building of the new shelter.
2. If F.C.C. receives government funds, why do they need my support? While F.C.C. relies upon government agencies for major sources of its operating expenses, no guarantee exists that such funds will be available in the future. A critical need for services to victims of abuse, however, will continue. Retiring the debt on the shelter project will allow our agency to focus on direct contributions to victim services.
3. Will you accept Debt Retirement gifts of any amount? Absolutely! You may make a one-time gift or you may choose to make a multi-year pledge towards debt retirement. In addition to outright debt retirement gifts, we invite and urge you to consider a "planned gift" - a contribution, bequest, annuity, or some other charitable provision that can be directed to the agency after your lifetime. If no debt remains on the shelter, your contribution will be placed in an on-going Shelter account to be used for expenses related to operating the shelter.
4. What financial advantage is there for me to contribute to the F.C.C. Debt Retirement?
As a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit agency, all contributions to F.C.C. will be considered "charitable contributions" for tax purposes.
