Advocacy

To advocate means to support another person or cause. An advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault assists people with issues related to legal, social, educational, employment, medical, and/or other needs in order to escape the violence in their lives.

An advocate’s role is to provide information and options, and then to support victims in the decisions they make. Advocates provide victims with a link to various community resources, and can intervene on the victim’s behalf when the victim desires this.
