What We Do

Child Advocacy

Children witnessing and experiencing domestic violence in their lives continues as a prevalent concern in our communities.  Children can be affected by seeing actual incidents; hearing threats or fighting noises from another room; observing the aftermath of physical/emotional abuse; or just being aware of the tension and turmoil domestic violence causes in the home.

Our advocates work closely with children to provide them the one-on-one counseling and support they need.  Our advocates meet children where they feel comfortable and safe.  Many different topics are covered with children, including:

  • Safety
  • Feelings
  • Assertiveness
  • Self-Esteem
  • Choices
  • Friends & Family
  • Conflict
  • Divorce
  • Violence
  • Bullying/Teasing
  • Cyberbullying
  • Anger
  • Character
