Melissa’s hope chest

Shop with Purpose

Melissa’s Hope Chest is a gem in the thrift store space. At least, that’s what our loyal shoppers tell us. Our store is a place where secondhand goods have a place to shine as the one-of-a-kind finds they are. From name-brand clothing to household décor, each shopping experience is bound to have some new-to-you things to love.

Since our inventory changes daily, there’s always something new to find. The best part about supporting Melissa’s Hope Chest, whether by shopping or donating items, is that it all helps the mission of Family Crisis Centers.

Donated items might find their way into the homes of victims of violence. Family Crisis Centers’ clients can shop for much-needed necessities at no charge to get back on their feet. When someone flees violence with nothing but the clothes on their back, Melissa’s Hope Chest provides relief because they don’t need to worry about how they’ll get a change of clothes. When a victim of violence gets a fresh start in a new home, Melissa’s Hope Chest helps fill it with all the things that make it a home.

And all the proceeds from the store? Those go back to Family Crisis Centers to continue carrying out the mission of empowering people to live a life free from violence.

The Mission of Melissa’s Hope Chest

Melissa’s Hope Chest provides a service to people in need and a funding source for Family Crisis Centers to continue serving people affected by violence. By shopping or donating items, you have a direct impact on the lives of people affected by domestic violence, human trafficking, homicide, and other crimes. When you shop at Melissa’s Hope Chest, you’re shopping with purpose.

What We Take

We’re grateful to stock our shelves and fill our racks with items that need new homes. They served their purpose for you, and now those items can bring joy to someone else. Your donations are also doing good in the world because all of the proceeds support the Family Crisis Centers mission. So, if you’re looking to part ways with things you no longer need, these are some donations that we regularly accept:

  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Home Décor
  • Seasonal Décor
  • Kitchenware
  • Jewelry
  • Children’s Toys
  • So much more!

What We Can’t Take

We’d love to take all of your donations, but there are some things we just can’t accept. Sometimes it’s because we don’t have the space for those items and other times it’s because we can’t sell them. If you have any of these items that you’re looking to get rid of, we kindly ask you to refrain from dropping those off at Melissa’s Hope Chest.
